Promoting Rally Towels
Like many, the ripples of suicide stretch out far wide, and they affect many people. Suicide ranks among the leading causes of death in the United States, but when Tyler Hilinski took his own life eight months ago, no one was prepared for the tragedy that followed. Kym Hilinski, Tyler’s mom, planned to make the usual trip to see her son. She came from Spokane to Pullman, but she never realized that she’d never get to see him. Tyler died of suicide, and his family continues to honor his memory. This is why they have chosen to promote rally towels in his honor. They don’t want to simply remember that he died—they want to remember his life.
The Middle Child of the Family
Tyler Hilinski was the middle child of the family, but when he died, it hurt the family because they knew they’d have no more memories of hiking or of him playing in football games, which he loved. When the Hilinski family returned to Pullman for what was possibly their last time there, the family helped to raise the WSU flags. In Tyler’s honor, the football players put on the No. 3 decal for their football helmets to honor him. The death of Tyler Helinski hit them all pretty hard, which is why they have shown so much support. In fact, the Hilinski family has said that the amount of support they have received has been a pillar of strength for them. You can even buy custom rally towels in honor of his memory. These custom towels have been made in such a way that they go for a good cause.
What the Football Players Thought
Liam Ryan, the WSU offensive lineman, said that most of the team has had their moments where they had to cry it out. The loss of such a good player and friend hit everyone hard. Most of the players think about him every day, and they play the game for him every day. Tyler has never left the gridiron in the hearts of the WSU players. Many times in the locker room, you can see some of them walking around with rally towels that show their support for the family that lost a son. These custom towels also go for a great cause because they raise awareness for mental health.
Going Back to the Wheat Fields of Palouse
One of Tyler’s favorite hikes went to the wheat fields of Palouse in the end. While it wasn’t necessarily a challenging hike, it was the beauty of the hike that made it worthwhile. When Kym Hilinski made the hike, she only expected around 25 people to gather for it but over 100 people showed up to make this hike over the fields for Tyler. It goes to show the level of outpouring support that the family has received since Tyler’s death. Karen Wytko says that she joined up with this walk because six years before, she had lost her daughter to suicide. The goal was to raise awareness and with the help of the football players, the marches and the custom rally towels, no one will forget Tyler Hilinski.
The Hilinski Hope Foundation
One of the great hopes among the family is that they will raise awareness to help with removing the stigma that suicide has sometimes had around it. This foundation supports the programs that educate and help people with mental illness. Promoting suicide awareness, destigmatizing suicide and promoting awareness of mental health are all major goals. When you buy one of the rally towels, it goes to an influential cause that will help people. Considering how many lives have been touched by suicide, it’s not a bad cause to support.
Sharing Intimate Details of Their Son
The loss of their son has never been an easy one. Sharing the details have been hard, but they believe that it has gone on to strengthen them as well as many others who have had to deal with the suicide of a loved one. The hope is that by raising a little awareness, they will help to lower the number of suicides.
When you buy custom towels, you also help to promote a good cause and hopefully have some positive impact on the world. Custom rally towels for Tyler Hilinski show support for an amazing quarterback of Washington State, and they were created specifically for this event. He will be greatly missed by many. You have very little that Tyler’s family does that doesn’t honor his life. One of the important things that they have stressed has been to remember his life, rather what cut it short. They don’t want him to only be remembered for suicide, which is a fair thing. He should be remembered and honored for his accomplishments.
