Known as the Indiana Pacers since their founding year in 1967, the Pacers got their start in the American Basketball Association (ABA). Known as the most successful team in ABA history, the team appeared in 5 ABA Finals, won 3 division titles, and won 3 ABA championships. After the ABA-NBA Merger, the Pacers struggled to have any success, making the playoffs only twice in the next 10 years. Since the ‘90s, they’ve appeared regularly in playoffs but have yet to win an NBA championship. They have managed to win 6 NBA titles and 1 conference title.
One player that helped the Indiana Pacers gain some NBA titles was Reggie Miller–who led the team to their first NBA Finals game in 2000. In 2013, Paul George helped the team win their first division title since 2004. They were also able to win a division title the following year. While the Pacers traded Paul George for Victor Oladipo and Domantas Sabonis in 2017, the success of these two players helped the Pacers earn a number 5 seed and make the playoffs in the current season.
