This blog post on the Houston Rockets–a professional NBA (National Basketball Association) team–is brought to you by Rally Towels, a provider of wholesale custom rally towels.
Getting their start as the San Diego Rockets, the team was founded in 1967. In 1971, they moved to Houston and became the Houston Rockets. Since their move to Houston, the team has been able to win 6 division titles (1 from this current season), 4 conference titles, and 2 NBA championships (1994 and 1995).
In their founding year, the Rockets were only able to win 15 games and did not make their playoff debut until their second season. While they were able to regularly play well during the season, they did not win a division title until 1977 when Moses Malone joined the team. That season, the team made it all the way to the Eastern Conference Finals. However, they failed to win a conference title until 1981.
From his draft in 1984 until his trade in 2001, Hakeem Olajuwon was a key driver in helping the team obtain 3 of their division titles, 3 of their conference titles, and their 2 championships. Placing second to Michael Jordan as Rookie of the Year, Olajuwon is the only player to win NBA MVP, Defensive Player of the Year, and Finals MVP in 1 season (1993-1994). Following their 1995 championship, the team was unable to win any titles until the acquisition of James Harden, who led the team to 2 division titles.
